Normally, it would be easy enough to use a friend\u2019s dog, or go to a local rescue and give one of their fosters a bit of a pampering session.<\/p>\n<p>These days, though, that can be risky.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is, dogs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/daily-life-coping\/animals.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">can\u2019t carry the coronavirus<\/a>. The bad news is that if you borrow a dog, you\u2019re probably going to have to be in contact with other humans who <em>can <\/em>spread the virus.<\/p>\n<p>But there are still ways you can <a href=\"\/2020\/03\/how-to-keep-yourself-and-your-clients-safe-during-the-coronavirus-outbreak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">keep everyone safe<\/a>! Here are a few suggestions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t borrow dogs from anyone who\u2019s sick<\/strong>. The same goes for anyone who\u2019s recently been <em>exposed<\/em> to someone who\u2019s sick.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t borrow dogs if <em>you\u2019re<\/em> sick, or if you\u2019ve recently been exposed to someone who is sick<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Try to find owners who will allow you to take their dog to your home to do the groom<\/strong>. Don\u2019t groom dogs in other people\u2019s homes. Likewise, don\u2019t allow the dog\u2019s owner to linger in your home while you\u2019re working.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Try to avoid travelling long distances<\/strong>. Borrowing a dog from down the street is safer than travelling across the city for a dog.<\/li>\n<li><strong>When picking up or dropping off a dog, see if you can make the exchange outside.<\/strong> This is safer than going into someone\u2019s house, or inviting someone into your home.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If possible, bring a leash from your house<\/strong>.
