And the same goes for the tail, trimmed or shaved?<\/li>\n<li>Is your address, email, or phone number still the same?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The answers to these questions will help your dog grooming appointments go smoothly. Just remember, it\u2019s always best to ask more questions\u2014don\u2019t worry about being annoying! I\u2019ve been guilty of this, too! But you definitely want to ask about grooming specifications. But when they show you the length they want on the dog, they really only want half of it trimmed off. Clarify the length with them! Show them how much \u201cshort\u201d means, or ask them to show you what they want. It could save your butt!<\/p>\n<h3>What they want done with the ears.<\/h3>\n<p>You might not believe it, but many clients are picky about what they want done to their dog\u2019s ears. And if you don\u2019t ask them or they don\u2019t mention anything at drop off, they might be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doggroomingcourse.com\/2019\/03\/how-to-handle-bad-reviews-for-your-dog-grooming-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">upset with you<\/a> at pick-up.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, when I groom a dog with straight, upright ears with lots of fluff, I <em>always<\/em> ask if they want me to touch or leave the fluffy ears. More often than not, they want me to leave them. But if I didn\u2019t ask, I may have just trimmed them to look even with the rest of the coat. So don\u2019t be afraid to ask questions!<\/p>\n<h3>What they want done with the tail.<\/h3>\n<p>Tails can be tricky. More often than not, the clients don\u2019t really mention what they want done to the tail. Usually, they want it trimmed. Nevertheless, when I\u2019m taking in the dog, I\u2019ll quickly ask if they want the ears and tail trimmed. They\u2019ll either say, \u201cYes, just do that\u201d, or \u201cYou know what? Clients still sometimes ask me to fix things after the groom is complete. It makes it more personal and gives the client viewing your portfolio the kind of fur you were dealing with. Mention how bigger dogs take longer to groom. You can also indicate some difficult dogs, which will extend the grooming timeline.
